Finding a roofing contractor seems like it might be an easy task, but trust us, when you start your search, you’ll find that there’s more to look through than you expect.
You might run into companies that aren’t exactly local, or claim to serve your area, but don’t have any proof that they’ve done work there.
And if you’re looking in an area like Wendell, you may encounter some problems in that, well, there aren’t all that many longstanding roofing companies headquartered in Wendell. Also, a company doesn’t need to have their office around the corner from your house to have experience serving your neighborhood. Although, that would help if you had any questions or complaints about their services.

Before we get started, a quick disclaimer: none of the companies on this list are put here because of any personal interaction that we’ve had with them, nor are they ranked in any particular order. We want this list to be unbiased, so we based our selections on how these companies present themselves, and how good their customer feedback is on websites like Google and Better Business Bureau.

Once you’ve picked a company for your project, what can you do to get ready for the job to start?
Inside the house, there are several steps that you can take before the roofers arrive and get to work.
We recommend that you remove pictures, paintings, and other decorations hanging on your walls. Roofing involves a lot of hammering, scraping, and nailing, which causes a ton of vibrations throughout the house. That can make anything hanging shake, and potentially fall down, if it’s not on tight enough. So if you’ve got decorations on your walls that you don’t want to come crashing to the ground, it’s best to take them down ahead of time.
Similarly, if you’ve got breakable things in your cabinets, it might be smart to make sure they aren’t able to bump into each other and break as well. Things like fine china, vases, and glassware are all at risk for this sort of thing. Take stock of what you have and try to either protect it by wrapping it, putting it in a safer place, or both!
Up in your attic, you may want to cover up your belongings that aren’t already sealed up in boxes. The nailing on the roof will kick up a ton of dust, which could be a pain to clean off everything you’ve got up there. A tarp will make that process a lot easier. You’ll also want to do this for things in your garage, if there is a roof that will be replaced directly over it.
Speaking of your garage, we HIGHLY recommend moving out any vehicles that you have in there, especially if it’s a garage like we talked about above. The dust and granules that may fall on the vehicle can be difficult to clean, and can potentially scratch up the paint. If you’ll need a car at any point during the day of your roof replacement, move the car out of your garage and driveway the night before.
The materials and dumpster to be used on the job will be delivered to your house early in the morning, and the roofers will get even earlier to avoid working as much in the heat of the day. These things won’t be able to be moved once they are placed. That’s why it’s especially important to have your vehicle out of the way the night before. You don’t want to get trapped in, and don’t want to risk it being damaged by the debris or other roofing material.
Now that we’ve gone over the best roofing companies that serve Wendell, and some ways you can prepare for a roof replacement, I hope you’re starting to feel better about taking on your own project!
As we mentioned earlier, we are a local roofing company that works in and around Wendell. You may have noticed that we didn't include ourselves on this list, but that's not because we don't think we're one of the top roofing companies in Wendell, or even the whole Triangle.
We're confident in our work, and experience, but we understand that we aren't going to be the best fit for everyone, so we want to make sure that homeowners that don't choose us will be going for a quality company that won't take advantage of them, and help them through the process.
