Before we get started, a quick note: the companies on this list are not ranked in any particular order, and the information that we have on here comes primarily from Google reviews and the company websites, not our own personal experiences and interactions.

Alright, with that being said, let’s jump in!
Artisan Quality Roofing started as a general building contractor in 2011, but then narrowed its focus to roofing in 2013. Today, the company works on all kinds of roofs, doing replacements, repairs, inspections, and performing regular roof maintenance to help extend the life of their customers roofs. The company is still family owned, and serves the greater Triangle area from their new office building in Apex.

Carolina Exteriors is one of the Apex area’s most respected general home exterior contractors, and though installing siding is what they consider their main game, they provide window, gutter, and roofing services as well! As for their roofing credentials, the company is certified as a SELECT ShingleMaster by CertainTeed, and has Owens Corning’s Preferred Contractor status. For their roof replacement work, Carolina Exteriors prefers to install asphalt shingles, which is the most popular roofing material in Apex, as well as the rest of the greater Raleigh area.
Apex Roofing & Restoration is one of the younger companies on this list, but they pride themselves on their direct service and communication. When you get in touch with Apex Roofing, they guarantee that within 24 hours, you’ll be dealing directly with the owner of the company, who will be in touch with you throughout the whole process.

Legacy Construction & Roofing is a general home repair contractor that has been doing roofing, siding, and deck construction since 1983. Though they have their office located in Cary, LCR completes work all over the eastern half of the state, including the Triangle, and the Crystal Coast. Legacy prefers working with CertainTeed roofing products, and has been certified as a SELECT ShingleMaster by CertainTeed. As one of the larger operating roofing companies in the Triangle area, they have a wide reach and lots of resources to be able to provide high quality services to their customers.
Though Triangle’s Trusted Roofing Company only started serving Apex in 2018, its owner has been in the roofing industry for decades, owning a company in Rochester, Minnesota, for 13 years before moving to Cary. Triangle’s Trusted strives to make sure their customers are in the loop through every part of the roofing process, and responding quickly if something goes wrong. For their roof replacements, they choose to work with CertainTeed Landmark and Owens Corning Duration architectural asphalt shingles. As a result, the company is held in high regard with both manufacturers, and is a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, as well as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor.
When you’re talking about how often you need to get a roof replacement, the first question that needs to be asked and answered regards to the type of material that you have on your roof.
Asphalt shingle roofs, as long as they’re installed properly, will need to be replaced every 15 to 30 years, depending on the kind of shingle on the roof. 3-Tab shingles are on the low end of that scale, getting 15 to 20 years in good conditions before they will start to lose their grip and strength. Architectural shingles are the next step up, and have a two-ply design, making them twice as thick, and last close to twice as long as 3-Tab shingles, around 25-30 years. Luxury shingles are the third type of asphalt shingle, and are the most expensive, used to simulate the look of a slate, or ceramic roof. These upscale products usually last around 30 years, sometimes more in ideal conditions.
In the areas surrounding Raleigh, we also see metal panels used pretty frequently for roofing, of which there are two main types: standing seam and screw-down. Standing seam metal roofs tend to make it for around 50 solid years before they run into issues, but screw-down panels are a completely different story if they are installed over a heated space like your home.
When metal heats up, it expands, and then contracts as it cools, causing movement throughout the panels and roof. If the panels are screwed down into the frame of the roof, they don’t move with the panels, widening the holes around the screws, and allowing leaks to appear. So if you’ve got screw-down metal panels on your roof, you can expect it to need replacing far sooner than a standing seam metal roof, and even sooner than an architectural shingle roof.
Now that you’ve gotten some more information on the best roofing companies in Apex, and how often you may need to get your roof replaced, hopefully you’re in a better place, and feeling more confident taking the next steps in your roofing process!
