If you’re starting a roofing project in Benson, you’re gonna be looking for a company who is reputable, experienced, and trustworthy. Roofing companies are a dime a dozen these days, and even though there are so many out there, that makes it even more difficult to find the one that is best for your project.
Roofers often get a bad rap for being untrustworthy and cheap. Much of this reputation comes from the less experienced, solo contractors who will reuse old, dysfunctional materials to cut costs and win the job.

The information that we have is based on the Google reviews that they have received, and what the companies list on their websites. Also, we aren’t ranking them here, and they are not listed in any particular order.
Also, you might be curious about why we are even doing this. We are after all, a roofing company that does work in Benson. Well, our ultimate goal is to become the main source of roofing information for homeowners all over the area, and our hope is that by sharing our knowledge and experience with you, you’ll feel comfortable with us long before you need to reach out to us for your roofing project.
And of course, the biggest part of roofing in this area, is the companies who roof in this area!
So, without further ado, let’s get into it!
Roof Central’s roofing services “Start at the top” and they believe that their services are the best available to Benson homeowners. The provide residential and commercial roofing services out of their Smithfield headquarters, including roof repair, roof restoration, roof cleaning, as well as gutter and solar services. The company works on all different roofs, including EPDM flat roofs, and more standard asphalt shingle roofs. Roof Central claims to focus on creating a partnership focus to roofing projects, not just trying to do your roof and collect a paycheck.
Halo Roofing & Renovations is the only company on this list that actually has its headquarters in Benson! They do work all around the area, doing residential & commercial roof replacements, roof repairs, as well as gutters, siding, and painting work. The company is local to Benson, and is family owned. They offer free quotes for their roof replacement work, and have recently begun their own roofing blog on their website.
Lane’s Contracting has been around for a good while now, since 2005. The company is a complete home exteriors contractor, doing work in roofing, siding, windows, and painting. Lane’s serves the area from Raleigh to Fayetteville from their Smithfield headquarters, and has over 120 Google reviews and a 4.9-star rating along with it. Lane’s also holds GAF’s Master Elite Contractor status, which the manufacturer awards to contractors who hold a high standard of insurance and track record of quality.
NKS Contracting serves homeowners in central North Carolina and has been since 2012. They install a few different kinds of roofing materials, including metal panels, architectural shingles, and flat roof adhesive systems. From its headquarters in Erwin, NKS does work in Dunn, Benson, and across central and eastern North Carolina. As far as the services they provide, they primarily install new roofs, but also provide repairs and maintenance to their customers in the area.
Top Armour Contracting works in roofing, gutter, and siding services, and gives free estimates for their for their residential roof replacements. They work with Owens Corning asphalt shingles, and believe that in order to have a safe home and building, that you must be able to feel confident in the roof over it.
So now that you’ve seen a few companies that serve Benson, how much will working with one of them for a roof replacement cost you?
The range for roof replacement costs is super wide, but just to illustrate how wide it actually is, let’s look at two specific roof replacements that our company did in the Raleigh, NC area this past year.
Both houses had their roof’s replaced in the late Spring of last year, are in the same region around Raleigh, and both used GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles, in the Charcoal color. However, there was a pretty big price discrepancy, as the first house cost ~$5,600 to replace, and the second was over $22,000.
The biggest difference between the two houses is the size and complexity of the roofs in question. House #1 had a simple gable roof that was 17 squares large. (Just so you know, a ‘roofing square’ is just 100 square feet, it’s just easier for us to estimate costs using squares instead of square feet.)
House #2, on the other hand, had a 59 square roof, and was quite complex, featuring a couple of chimneys, vents, a skylight, some pipes, hips, and valleys.
As you can see, the size and complexity of the roof can cause the price of the replacement to vary wildly, as it not only increases the materials, but labor costs as well. House #1’s replacement could likely have been less expensive, had it been done sooner.
This is because we had to replace 20 sheets of rotted wood decking, which was because of leaks and water damage over the years. Had repairs, or a replacement, been done before the roof got to that point, a lot of money could have been saved on labor and materials.
But these houses are at the extreme ends of the roof replacements we do, and you came here to learn about the average roof replacement. Typically, the roof replacements that we do usually cost between $9,000 and $12,000 for the full roofing system on a home of average size and complexity.
As we talked about at the beginning of this blog, we are a roofing company that works in and around Benson. You may have noticed that we didn’t include ourselves on this list, but that’s not because we don’t think we’re one of the top roofing companies in the area.
